The Marketing & Communications Trustee is an important role with the Board of Trustees that is critical to the Pride Center accomplishing its mission. Marketing & Communications are key functions to attract and retain members of the community, enhance community engagement, and to generate the necessary support to maintain and grow programs and operations of the Center to serve the community.

PCNJ is now looking for committed individuals with previous marketing & communications experience to help organize and lead our marketing, promotions, and external communications efforts as we celebrate our 25th year serving the community, and also to set plans in place for the future of the organization. This key position has overall responsibilities for Marketing, External Communications, Publications/Publicity, Advertising, and Social Media.

Responsibilities include providing leadership and management for marketing & communications functions to include:
 Develop, implement and maintain Marketing plans and programs for the Center consistent with its charter and mission to help:
o Increase the visibility and appeal of the Center to our diverse community
o Raise public awareness of the Pride Center’s mission, purpose and offerings
o Promote programs and events
o Promote fundraising, membership, and outreach initiatives
 Identify and pursue opportunities to advertise the Pride Center to the appropriate geographic area and demographics to help achieve the above objectives
 Ensure that key information and periodic communications have appropriate content and appeal, and are distributed (includes: Programming, Newsletters, Reports, Event highlights...).
 Identify and pursue opportunities for providing advertising and promotions for related organizations or services to benefit the community
 Use multi-media communication methods, including printed mailings, eNews, emails, website and social media postings.
 Work with webmaster or service to develop, manage and maintain the PCNJ website and related materials/postings, ensuring proper security and protections for the site.
 Identify, acquire and coordinate/manage additional resources to support the function
 Coordinate with all functional areas and committees to address their marketing needs, and ensure a consistent PCNJ message/image on all materials.
 Coordinate with Outreach function or committee with strong liaison and leadership regarding marketing support needed for enhanced community engagement.

Qualifications:
 Commitment to the LGBTQIA+ community and a strong sense of community needs
 Marketing background and/or experience
 Working knowledge of marketing strategies and methods
 Good working knowledge of digital marketing, web and social media usage
 Graphic design skills and abilities is a plus
 Energetic, enthusiastic, and creative in nature
 Self-motivated, works well independently and as part of a team
 Effective communication and interpersonal skills
 Previous work or volunteer experience in the not-for-profit sector is desirable but not essential

The mission of the Pride Center of New Jersey is to provide a safe and welcoming place for all in the LGBTQ+ community, especially our youth, to come for support, education/health education, and social opportunities to help grow in self-awareness, self-acceptance and self-esteem, in order to live healthier and happier lives with equality and social justice. We provide comprehensive programming and resources to foster the health and well-being of LGBTQ+ individuals and serve to normalize their lives and existence in a safe and supportive environment - when some are perhaps not even welcome or accepted in their own families. We have helped save lives by not only giving hope, but also happiness as an alternative to living in secrecy, shame, or worse, giving up on life.

Description

The Pride Center of New Jersey is now in its 25th year serving the LGBTQ+ community as an active vibrant center. Our doors are open to the greater New Jersey area. We have over a thousand visitors per year with a wide range of active participants attending any of our 400 meetings and activities, including: support, social, and special interest group meetings; programs for youth and young adults; and cultural and fun activities/events for all.

The Pride Center of New Jersey is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit organization operating solely on memberships and donations from the public and supporters of the community. All funds and sponsorships received go directly to benefit our LGBTQ+ youth and other programs.

The Pride Center of New Jersey, Inc. has been fulfilling the support and social needs of thousands of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered people since first opening its doors in 1994. A fast-growing community center located in New Brunswick, The Pride Center provides "safe space" for the gay, lesbian, bi and trans community: a place to learn about our community from a vast array of resources, a place to socialize and meet new friends, a place to gain acceptance and understanding of your gender and sexual identity in an comfortable setting. The Pride Center offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere and a knowledgeable and helpful volulunteer staff. Whether New Jersey's g/l/b/t community is new or familiar to you, The Pride Center is a place to call home and return to again and again.
