Storefront of Ten Thousand Villages

Do you have a desire to help people in developing countries and learn more about their interesting cultures? Ten Thousand Villages provides a great volunteer opportunity to do just that.

At Ten Thousand Villages we deliver vital, fair income to unemployed or underemployed artisans in developing countries (Latin America, Africa and Asia). We do this by telling the artisan’s powerful story and selling their handicrafts (textiles, jewelry, pottery, etc.) in North America.

We are looking for volunteers to work the following days:
Monday: every other Monday from 9:30am - 2:00pm
Tuesday: mornings 9:30am - 2:00pm
Wednesday: every other Wednesday 2:00pm - 6:15pm
Thursday: afternoons 2pm - 6:15pm
Friday: morning 9:30am - 2:00pm OR 2:00pm to 6:15pm
Saturday: morning 9:30am - 2:00pm // 12:00pm - 4:00pm // 2:00pm - 6:30pm
Sunday: morning 10:30am - 2:00pm OR 2:00pm - 5:3-pm

This position involves providing a high level of customer service to Ten Thousand Villages shoppers. You will be required to cheerfully greet customers; make sure shoppers know about our fair trade mission; tell stories about artisans/products; answer customer questions; ring up sales; wrap items up and bag them.

Previous retail experience is not needed. An orientation, cash register training and ongoing training about new products and artisans are provided.

We hope that you will jump into the colorful world of fair trade and join our influential volunteer team!
