Reading Advancement Program

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: HOPE COMMUNITIES INC

This program is aimed at boosting reading proficiency in 2nd to 6th graders. It takes place Monday through Thursday from 9:00AM - 11:30AM in the Hidden Brook Community room. Each session is divided into two parts, reading time with assistance and computer assessment time. Each child’s progress will be measured throughout the program. The ideal volunteer will have a passion for education, reading, and children. We ask for each volunteer to commit to at least two sessions per week as consistency is extremely important with our little ones. The children who completed our last reading intervention program successfully boosted their reading proficiency while also forming new friendships!

About HOPE COMMUNITIES INC

Location:

2543 CALIFORNIA ST, DENVER, CO 80205, US

Mission Statement

Hope Communities' mission is to create diverse, healthy communities through quality, service-enriched, affordable housing.

Description

Hope Communities was founded in 1980 by a group of citizens concerned about the lack of decent, affordable housing in Denver. Beginning in the historic Five Points neighborhood, Hope Communities operated a single building of rental units that Denver families and individuals could afford; almost thiry years later, the organization's geographic focus has expanded to include the entire Metro Denver area, at a time where affordable housing has only become more critical.

In addition to rental housing, Hope Communities also offers an array of programs and services designed to empower residents and build community. These include adult education, youth education, health and wellness programs, case management, and events to engage the entire community.
