The Speed Cinema will be the first theater in North America to screen Amazing Grace - Documentary of Aretha Franklin's best-selling gospel album. The footage for Amazing Grace was captured in January 1972 at Temple Missionary Baptist in Los Angeles, where Franklin was joined by Rev. James Cleveland and his choir for two days of gospel sessions. As producer Alan Elliott said, "This is a transcendent experience if you’re a music lover. You don’t have to love gospel or R&B or any [particular] style. This is just pure music, played by one of the great rhythm sections in music history, sung by the greatest singer of our generation."

The Speed Cinema will be screening this film over several weeks during the month of May. We will need volunteer ushers for this film and other films. Volunteer ushers usually help pass out programs, check for open seats or help with way finding. Once all guests are seated, volunteers are welcome to stay and watch the film free of charge.

Ideal cinema volunteers are people oriented and punctual. Volunteers should also be good with crowds. We may experience sell out crowds of up to 138 per screening. 2 volunteers are needed per screening. Groups of volunteers can alternate through the many screenings. Minimum age is 16.

Interested parties please submit a volunteer application here: https://www.speedmuseum.org/support/volunteers/
