NOoSPHERE Arts (est. 2011) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded by Norwegian-born painter Sol Kjøk,
now collaboratively run by a team of international artists and curators spanning three continents.
Dedicated to bringing artists from elsewhere to New York, we are a mobile platform that produces and presents public arts programming across several venues around town. Our mission is to offer the U.S. audience access to current art from other countries and to bring creative people together for artistic cross-pollination and transnational collaborations. A community of artists, we organize monthly arts events, such as salons, performances, concerts, screenings, lectures, and shows, in two Brooklyn venues. These events are fun, free, and open to the public. Ours is a friendly crowd consisting mainly of artists and other arts professionals of all stripes and colors. During the summer months, we organize a program called We Are Nature, which presents environmentally based art programming across our rooftop stages in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. (please see more details on our website, under We Are Nature)

Typically, our events occur on the second Tuesday night of every month, as well as one or more Friday or Saturday nights from the end of May until the end of September.

We are looking for someone with experience in social media who would be responsible for capturing our events digitally: both in photos and film and sharing them with our audiences across all our digital channels. You would also be managing all our social media posts, copy, and presence for the We Are Nature series. You would work directly with the Director of Programs and Artistic Director or NOoSPHERE Arts and will be expected to attend all events on the following dates: May 29, June 18, June 26, July 6, July 31, August 3, August 28, Sept 10-12, and Sept 20-26. The rest of the work can be done virtually.

Our events are fully outdoors and we follow all current Covid-19 NY City event regulations

Mission Statement

Mission NOoSPHERE Arts produces and presents experimental arts programming at the nexus of art and eco-awareness. It is a welcoming platform where migrant artists connect with locals. Uniting music, dance, visual arts, theater, film, poetry & prose, our collaborative productions harness the power of art to drive action towards green living, fair play, and oneness. NOoSPHERE Arts encourages dialogue, openness to experimentation, and radical inclusivity. We aim to elevate the voices of historically marginalized populations. We are driven by the desire to ignite a shift in perspective from the parts to the whole. We see life as a cooperative dance energized by creativity and the constant emergence of novelty. Our goal is to instill belief in personal agency and hope through collective action: with shared efforts towards sustainability, diversity, and equity, we can create a more united and joyful world.

Description

NOoSPHERE Arts is a 501c3 organization and cultural center led by a team of international creatives whose backgrounds blend the arts and sciences. Its freewheeling, multidisciplinary approach engages diverse audiences and builds community through a range of vibrant public events in its indoor-outdoor home in New York City's Greenpoint, Brooklyn.

Our experimental arena on the bank of Newtown Creek in Greenpoint is now the only multidisciplinary arts center in a neighborhood full of creators of all stripes and origins eager to share their stories. We offer multiple points of entry through indoor/outdoor performances, salon conversations, exhibits, screenings, readings, festivals, and volunteer opportunities, and everyone is invited to come be pART !!!

Our main focus at this time is our WE ARE NATURE Summer Series. Set in a surreally beautiful nature sanctuary sprouting on top of an ExxonMobil industrial plant on the bank of Superfund site Newtown Creek, the recurring WE ARE NATURE Rooftop Series offers a combination of multiple art forms - dance, music, performance, visual art, poetry, prose, and film - addressing humanity’s place on Earth in aims of engaging a diverse audience in environmental efforts through art and runs from May to October.
