WSU VISTA - KanCare Ombudsman Outreach VISTA, Wichita
- Full-Time Service Position (Flexible Schedule; hours can be adjusted)
- Temporary Position: Starting now (1-year term) (possibility for additional years)
- $15,000 per year Modest Living Allowance
- PLUS: $6,000 Education Award after one year of service! (or cash stipend of $1,800)
- Current and past members may also qualify for a $2,000 Wichita State University scholarship and other supports.
Help Medicaid help Kansans! Provide structure and sustainability to a volunteer program that helps Kansans make the most out of KanCare. Help us spread the word from our office in Old Town, Wichita.
AmeriCorps VISTA members are passionate and committed to their mission to bring individuals and communities out of poverty. Members make a year-long, full-time commitment to serve on a specific project at a nonprofit organization or agency. Members earn a modest living allowance of $12,300, limited benefit options and after a year of service are eligible for an Education Award of $6,000 or Post-Service Stipend of $1,800.

To support KanCare/Medicaid members in navigating the Medicaid system and to resolve problems regarding services, coverage, access and rights.
Description
The KanCare Ombudsman office helps KanCare/Medicaid members and applicants with concerns about getting services they need through KanCare/Medicaid. The KanCare Ombudsman Volunteer Program is designed to assist the KanCare Ombudsman in serving KanCare/Medicaid members and applicants regarding their services, coverage, access and rights.
We are here to answer calls and allow consumers to consult with a live volunteer. You don’t have to be an expert on Medicaid to volunteer; you will learn as you help others. Volunteers receive, at no cost, a minimum of 30 hours training and mentoring by an experienced staff member prior to starting their service as well as continuing education.
