The plants and animals at Kickapoo Forest Preserve needs your help! Join an inspiring movement of volunteers gathering to care for this special site along the Little Calumet River. Learn what it takes to help nature thrive in our treasured forest preserves and to make our preserves safe and healthy for people of all ages to enjoy. Join us once a year, once a month or once a week! We pick up litter, cut down invasive species of trees and weeds, collect seeds from native plants, and spread those seeds to restore life to the prairie and woodlands that surround the river.
No experience necessary, and volunteers of all ages are welcome. Education and training opportunities are abundant for those who want a deeper experience.
Dress for being outside! Wear clothing that can get dirty and sturdy close toed shoes, no matter what the weather. Bring your own water bottle. Snacks and tools will be provided.
The Forest Preserves of Cook County protects 70,000 acres where people can unwind amidst the beauty of nature. Friends of the Forest Preserves can help you find your place in local efforts to care for our environment.
