Transporter: Portland Wheelers

Save to Favorites

Come volunteer with the Portland Wheelers - offering free, recreational rides to those living with significant disability, debility, or dementia - old and young alike - who cannot ride a bike by themselves but would love to go for a ride.

Volunteer Role:
Daily, during the summer ride season, we move our trikes by truck and trailer to various locations around Greater Portland. At each location, 2-3 volunteer pilots meet the transporter, help unload and set up the trikes, then provide rides for our "wheelers" (passengers). At the end of the shift, the trikes are loaded back onto the trailer and either taken to the next location or brought back to storage.

Qualities/Experience Needed: Valued qualities include: enthusiasm for our mission, a positive, upbeat attitude, a willingness to do what’s needed to get the job done, and a sense of humor. We need you to be, at least, 21-years-old, have a clean driving record and experience pulling trailers, or you’re willing to learn.
