Organization Summary: The Arc Minnesota is a non-profit, grassroots advocacy organization serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. Intellectual and developmental disabilities include Down syndrome, autism, fetal alcohol spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy and related conditions. The Arc helps people address issues such as early intervention, education, transition to adulthood, employment, housing, health care, guardianship, transportation, supports available to families/caregivers and on policy issues at local, state and national levels.
Position Summary: Tasks includes supporting a fall housing advocacy workshop series, creating web/video voter engagement resources, conducting periodic community engagement evaluations and curating online civic engagement promotional content. Specific duties include:
- Assist in the creation and implementation a of the Arc systems advocacy workshops/webinars
- Assist in creating online voter awareness and engagement resources and activities
- Create, promote, disseminate and monitor online public policy and civic engagement opportunities
- Cross-collaborate and identify items with supervisor for social media platforms
- Submit policy oriented "Ask the Advocate" questions for social media and information purposes
- Gather stories on issues that could be impacted during the 2018 and 2019 legislative session
- Collaborate and promote self-advocacy and community engagement activities
- Conduct evaluations of civic engagement activities by The Arc’s supporters quarterly
- Assist in coordinating legislative and home visits as necessary; attend visits as schedule permits
- Attend MN-CCD and other policy and community engagement meetings as schedule permits
- A written recap of their experience and what they learned from their internship with Arc
- Other duties as requested

A public policy focused position available May/June - end of August 2019. Must be available 2-3 days and 10-12 hours a week. Hours are Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm with occasional evenings and weekends if needed.
