Have we got something great for you! Enjoy being part of an organization that makes a difference, spend time with really nice people, feel good when you leave - and it doesn’t even cost admission!
We are looking for people to lead volunteer orientation classes at the Nevada State Museum, Las Vegas. Of course, we will train you first!
During a 90-minute orientation class, we ask you to:
- review our Volunteer Manual with new volunteers (20 minutes)
- help new volunteers complete paperwork (15 minutes)
- lead tours of the public galleries and behind-the-scenes (45 minutes)
- show new volunteers how to record their volunteer hours (10 minutes)
Class sizes range from 1-5 people and are held at the museum. Classes are scheduled at a mutually agreeable time for you and the new volunteer(s) between 9 am - 5 pm, Tuesday-Saturday (no classes on Sunday or Monday).
The museum is on the Springs Preserve campus:

Mission Statement
Our mission is to encourage, foster, and assist Nevada State Museum, Las Vegas (NSMLV) programs and activities by volunteering, fundraising, and promoting community interest in the museum.
Description
The Friends of Nevada State Museum Las Vegas created Bus Buddies to bring 4th graders to the museum. It was so successful that the State of Nevada funded a 2-year pilot project based on our program to expand the effort. We received a Nevada Humanities grant to update "Traveling Trunks" that bring museum artifacts to schools. The Friends sponsor presentations on a wide variety of topics such as Las Vegas showgirls, fossils, quilts, etc. We have a crowdsourcing project to transcribe a card catalog (www.nsmlv.org/omeka). The museum WIFI is provided by HyperNetworks in partnership with the Friends.
