The RDS Design Team is developing a Walking Tour of the Historic buildings in downtown. Working with The Santiam Heritage Foundation, we're putting together some resources for historical sites in our downtown for the cultural history app Clio. Clio is an interactive app that allows us to upload history, stories, and photos to show where history is all around us. What we need is some assistence in research.
This volunteer position is designed to go at your own pace. It is a research and writing position. We can either provide you a building to do a write up on and research, or if there is a building in the Revitalize Downtown Stayton target area that you are interested in researching- let us know and we can tell you if that one is available! We need you to do a simple write up on the history- one or two paragraphs. If you can find photos to go with the write up, that would be a bonus! Each building contributed to this project helps to illustrate and show off the rich history that Downtown Stayton has!

Mission Statement
Revitalize Downtown Stayton (previously Friends of Old Town Stayton) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving downtown Stayton. Through a combination of events, financing, technical help, design improvements, and networking opportunities, we seek to make downtown a more enjoyable place to visit and an easier place to start and maintain a business.
Description
We use the Main Street Model, which is a four-point approach (Design, Promotion, Economic Vitality, and Organization) to create long lasting change in downtown. This national model is tried and true: some of the best small town downtowns in Oregon started with the Main Street approach. We hope to replicate others' success while keeping Stayton distinctive.
We love Downtown Stayton. The rich history, unique waterways, and wonderful businesses make Stayton a special place to live. We hope to build off of this distinctiveness to create a downtown that can invite the community together to eat, shop, and enjoy gathering.
