Join the community in the annual Perkins Park Clean-up event taking place on Saturday, April 13 th and Sunday, April 14 th from 9am - 3pm. The clean-up will consist of weeding, edging, trimming and planting. Perkins Park is narrow stretch of shoreline located between Lovers Point and the Esplanade and known for its brilliant pink "magic carpet" or drosanthemum floribundum (a.k.a ice plant) that blooms every spring. Over the last few years, due to an increase in gophers and weeds, there has been a decline in the "magic carpet" blooms. This event is a way to help restore the park to its former glory.
If you would like to attend the clean-up or be an on-going landscape assistant volunteer, please contact Amy Colony, Volunteer Coordinator at acolony@cityofpacificgrove.org or (831) 2651-6452.
