Students high school and college-age volunteers (14 - 25) participate in the summer volunteer program to learn more about the museum, volunteering and what it’s like to give back to the community. Student volunteers will have the option to choose a volunteer path from the following opportunities:
- Sportsology: Volunteers will participate in facilitating activities based on the science behind sport for 20 - 26 (2)-hour shifts. Shifts can be scheduled per the availability of the volunteer during open business hours Sunday - Saturday. Volunteers will be able to schedule themselves in any open shift on the calendar. This is the most flexible position and allows volunteers to balance multiple commitments.
- Monday Crew: Volunteers will facilitate pre-determined activities throughout the museum with simple but engaging content for our visitors. Each shift could potentially have a different location and content. Students will fill 12 - 14 (4) hour shifts. Of the three options, this has the least amount of volunteer hours and has limited spaces available.
- Play Tinker Make Engineer: Volunteers will participate in the program where volunteers facilitate hands-on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) activities with visitors on Saturdays 11:30 pm to 4:30 pm from June - August filling 10 - 13 shifts. This option has the potential to offer the most hours available for volunteers looking to fulfill a community service requirement.
