Seeking Passionate and Experienced Finance Professionals for YouthBuild Preparatory Academy's Finance Committee

Description:

YouthBuild Preparatory Academy, Inc. is seeking dedicated and experienced finance professionals to join our Finance Committee. As a nonprofit organization, we are committed to empowering and educating young people through our career academies, helping them transform their lives and make a positive impact on their communities. Our Finance Committee plays a crucial role in ensuring our financial sustainability and guiding the organization towards a successful future.

Responsibilities:

As a Finance Committee member, you will be responsible for:

  1. Providing financial oversight and guidance to the organization.
  2. Reviewing and analyzing financial reports and budgets.
  3. Assisting in the development of financial policies and procedures.
  4. Ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and best practices.
  5. Offering recommendations for financial planning, investments, and risk management.
  6. Participating in regular Finance Committee meetings and occasional full board meetings.

Qualifications:

  1. A strong background in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  2. Demonstrated commitment to our organization's mission and values.
  3. Excellent analytical, communication, and decision-making skills.
  4. Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of professionals.
  5. Nonprofit experience is a plus, but not required.

Time Commitment:

The Finance Committee typically meets quarterly, with additional meetings scheduled as needed. Members are expected to prepare for and actively participate in these meetings and contribute to the committee's work on an ongoing basis.

YouthBuild Prep Academy provides a liberating educational experience to all students, with a focus on engaging young men of color, preparing them to be confident, civically engaged leaders.

Description

YouthBuild Preparatory Academy, an umbrella organization which is authorized to operate both a school (SY2020) and a YouthBuild Program (YouthBuild Providence).

YBPA provides education, occupational skills training, leadership development and post-program placement opportunities to opportunity youth in Providence, Rhode Island’s most distressed neighborhoods: Olneyville, South Providence, Elmwood, and West End. YouthBuild Providence is an affiliate of YouthBuild USA, a national non-profit organization dedicated to helping low-income young people become educated, productive adults in their communities. We are one of roughly 226 YouthBuild programs, nationally.

Our model is designed based on a community that recognizes and supports the diverse needs of urban youth, creates an environment for individual growth, and cultivates social and emotional development resulting in the successful transition from adolescence to adulthood. YB Prep is laser-focused on academic excellence and achievement. We provide a rigorous and relevant, standards-driven experiential learning community to ensure all students master the content and skills necessary to earn a post-secondary degree.
