The Willow Creek Care Center partners with JOURNEYS, a non-profit agency that provides both shelter and social services to the homeless and those at risk of becoming homeless in the northwest suburbs. PADS (Public Action to Deliver Shelter), a program of JOURNEYS, offers a safe, warm place to sleep and meals through a network of faith-based emergency shelters. From May through September the Care Center opens its doors to PADS guests on Monday evening through Tuesday morning and from October through April, on Thursday evening through Friday morning.
The PADS program relies on a team of volunteers to welcome guests, manage the intake process, serve meals, build community and monitor the site while guests are present.
If you would like to join the PADS volunteer team, you will need to complete both the Care Center application and protection process as well as the JOURNEYS volunteer process. These can be done simultaneously, you do not need to one before the other. Both the Care Center and JOURNEYS processes must be completed before you will be able to start volunteering.
