We’re looking for data management interns to join our team during the Summer 2019. Our data management team plays a pivotal role in growing and improving the AsylumConnect resource catalog. Under the supervision of the Executive Director, Senior Director of Data Management and Assistant Directors of Data Management, our Data Managers work to maintain and efficiently grow our resource catalog. The data management intern will focus on verifying new organizations for inclusion in our resource catalog. The intern wiill help to ensure our resource database’s verified information remains up-to-date and error-free. This is an exciting opportunity to improve your data collection and verification skills while expanding the first ever online resource catalog for LGBTQ asylum seekers. We're looking for a meticulous, hard-working individual who is passionate about expanding the first ever online resource database for LGBTQ asylum seekers.

Responsibilities:

  • Report (and work closely with) AsylumConnect’s Executive Director and data management team.
  • Call and email organizations to verify their fit for the AsylumConnect resource catalog.
  • Use our backend dashboard to add new verified resources to our live catalog.
  • Additional ad hoc data management tasks as assigned by our Directors of Data Management.

Qualifications:

  • Remote/virtual position for Summer 2019 (exact dates negotiable). Tentative schedule: 10am - 5pm, Monday through Friday.
  • Obtained or pursuing a bachelor’s or graduate degree (e.g. M.B.A., J.D., M.S.).
  • The willingness to call organizations during business hours to assess their fit for the AsylumConnect resource catalog.
  • The ability to follow instructions and work independently.
  • Excellent written and oral English language skills.
  • You are reliable, meticulous and appreciate the value of deadlines.
  • Willingness to learn in-depth about the AsylumConnect catalog and our tailored resource verification process.
  • Experience with online communication tools (e.g. G Suite, Slack, Zoom, Asana Project Management).
  • Passion for LGBTQ rights and/or immigration.
  • Note: This internship is unpaid. Interns will have the opportunity to receive a letter of reference from AsylumConnect upon successful completion of the internship.
