Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, THE RED CROSS NEEDS YOUR HELP MORE THAN EVER as fewer volunteers are able to support our critical blood collection efforts. Our need for volunteers is constant and continues to evolve as we navigate this health crisis. Please rest assured that we are working with public health officials to help keep local communities and our volunteers safe. Activities related to blood collection are considered "essential" by the CDC, so even with a "Shelter-in-place" mandate, you are able to help as a Donor Ambassador volunteer.
Red Cross Donor Ambassadors:
- Manage the reception process by ensuring each donor is warmly greeted and assisted with initial registration.
- Manage the hospitality experience by offering refreshments, thanking donors for their contribution, and alerting staff if a donor shows signs of feeling unwell.
- Screen donors' temperatures before entering the sites.
Why is this role so important?
The Red Cross collects and provides about 40% of the nation’s blood supply to hospitals. Donor Ambassadors ensure blood donors have a positive experience at every blood drive and will return to support this life-saving activity.
Requirements:
- Ages 15+
- One 4-6 hour shift per month
- Professional communication skills
*All training is provided for free. No previous training or experience required.
