LIM's Education Programs offer elementary students from all over Long Island a chance to enjoy the artifacts, historic buildings and art on our site. Volunteer docents allow us to serve over 6,000 students a year through our core programs Long Island Long Ago, Early to Rise and Wagons West. Docents help lead these hands-on programs, giving children a fun and informative glimpse into life in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Volunteers are trained, become an important part of the LIM community, and bring their unique insight, skills and enthusiasm to give students and teachers a special educational experience at LIM.
