The History Colorado Center is looking for high school students to assist the museum’s Hands on History Camp program. The student will assist in educational programming, organization, planning, and other camp related activities. Teens must be 14 or older to apply and/or be an incoming 9th grade student for the 2023-2024 school year.
Each member of Museum Corp must be able to commit to at least two weeks or 65 hours of camp. Available hours are Monday-Friday, 9-4pm. We prefer teens to volunteer an entire week at a time, but, of course, are flexible with your schedule. Teens who fulfill this obligation will earn a cash education award at the end of the program. Participants will also earn great real-world experience and over 60 hours for school-related community service credit.
There are two options of camps to choose from:
1.) March Camp which runs March 20th-31st, and
2.) Summer Camp which runs June 5-August 11th
We do require all to attend a four hour orientation prior to volunteering.
****The deadline to apply for March camps is March 6th and for Summer camps May 19th.
All qualified applicants will be invited to attend a group & individual interview. Participants who are selected for the Teen Museum Corps will be required to attend an orientation prior to starting on either March 18th or June 2nd from 10-2pm.
Vaccine Verification & Safety Procedures
All volunteers who do their service on site (at any of our HC locations) are required to send verification of vaccination (no vaccination records will be shared with anyone outside of the HR staff and records will be kept securely in the HR office) Email Director of Volunteer Engagement, Emily Dobish, at emily.dobish@state.co.us prior to your start date with a scanned copy or photo of your vaccination card.
