Do you love to be outside? Are you interested in working with youth? Looking for opportunities that keep you on your feet? Becoming an Outreach Volunteer with HomePlate Youth Services might be for you!
HomePlate is Washington County’s only drop-in center and outreach team that is designed to support youth experiencing housing instability. Our outreach team travels Washington County meeting youth where they are, and providing basic resources like water bottles, hygiene supplies, and referrals to other community partners. The outreach team visits transit centers, schools, skate-parks, other suggested locations and ride public transit - to find youth where they are and provide resources on-site.
We are currently seeking volunteers who can commit to one weekly, 2.5 - 3-hour shift from 2:30-5 pm Monday, Tuesday & Thursday, or 4-7pm Wednesdays.
Volunteers will be paired with an experienced member of the outreach staff team.
No previous experience is necessary but volunteers must attend a 1.5hr orientation and 2hr training, and an on the day of your first shift you'll get an additional round of outreach specific training. Volunteers must be at least 18, and be willing to spend several hours on their feet regardless of weather. Volunteers must complete an application, pass a background and reference check, and schedule an interview.
Put on your walking shoes and join us today!
