What: Catholic Charities’ Prison Ministry program is seeking a co-facilitator for a positive fatherhood class at one of Louisiana’s Correctional Facilities. This class is a part of the Plaquemine’s Parish Sheriff’s Office re-entry program for men. Most men in the program are from New Orleans. The volunteer will help guide discussions and teach a set curriculum. The volunteer will have confidence in public speaking and be open to offering wisdom and insight to incarcerated fathers. Volunteer must be an adult male over the age of 25. Experience in ministry, education, counseling, social work, or a related field is helpful but not required. Fathers are preferred.
When/Where: Volunteer will meet with co-teacher and carpool to correctional facility. They will leave New Orleans at 8 am on Tuesday mornings and return by 2 pm.
More Details: The program will begin mid-April. Candidate will be interviewed by program staff before being accepted as co-facilitator. Volunteer will commit to minimum of several months.
