Mission Statement

Constructs, operates, maintains, and secures multipurpose infrastructure to energize the economy, reduce flood risk, and serve as stewards of water resources for the Snake River Basin and the Nation.

Description

Volunteers allow the Corps to accomplish more with fewer resources; adequately maintain and develop the various public access facilities for which we are responsible; and greatly enhance the outdoor experience and indoor learning opportunities available to the public who use and/or visit our facilities. Additional benefits of working with volunteers include recovery of staff time, increased productivity of employees, an increase in Corps ambassadors and an increase in Corps mission awareness.

In times when budgets are restricted and personnel are operating at lean levels, volunteers become more important and valuable than ever to the Corps. Many opportunities for volunteer participation are available. Working with Park Rangers on educational and exciting projects, both short and long term, is highly rewarding as volunteers begin to see major changes take place and public enjoyment increase. Participating in new development and ongoing maintenance projects alongside staff is both a rewarding experience and an excellent way to build and develop new skills. Administrative and Camp Host activities are also available for those who wish to interact with staff and visitors and help assure our services remain excellent.
