ProKids is a nonprofit agency that recruits, trains and supports community volunteers to speak up for foster children in Hamilton County. Since 1981, ProKids has been dedicated to helping abused and neglected children find a safe, permanent and nurturing home, and for the last two decades, 99% of those children have remained free from abuse and neglect while under ProKids' care. The Cincinnati Bar Association Young Lawyer Section is proud to partner with ProKids to host the annual Superhero Run for Kids: a 5K run through downtown Cincinnati and family-friendly after-party benefitting ProKids and the children they serve. Over the last 23 years, the Run for Kids has raised more than $300,000 in support of ProKids' mission. Volunteers will help set up the race site, check in registrants, sell tickets, help with the food tables, ensure safety at the bounce house, and man the beer booth.

Description
ProKids volunteers, trained and supported by a passionate staff, speak up for abused and neglected children and help them find safe, permanent and nurturing homes. ProKids has been standing up for these children, often in foster care, since 1981. Whether working directly with a child as a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) volunteer, assisting in another capacity, or supporting us financially by making a donation, our children need your help. Each CASA Volunteer is assigned to a foster child, making sure the child is safe, that the child's needs are met, and helping each child move into a safe, permanent, and nurturing home as quickly as possible. And they're successful. A national study shows that children with CASA volunteers spend less time in long-term foster care and move less often. Abuse has stopped for 99 percent of the foster children served by ProKids over the past two decades.
