ORGANIZATION: City of West Palm Beach Office of Sustainability

The City of West Palm Beach Mayor's Office of Sustainability gives trees to city residents and businesses as part of their 10,000 Trees in 10 years tree giveaway program. On Saturday, March 23rd, from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm Sustainability staff will be distributing trees to members of a church located near the Palm Beach Atlantic University campus. Approximately 2-3 volunteers are requested to assist in the giveaway process. Volunteers will be asked to help locate property addresses using an online system, educate residents on the species of trees available, distribute general information, and distribute the trees to residents.

Description

Located in City Hall, the Mayor's Office of Sustainability collaborates with all West Palm Beach City Departments, non-profit organizations, schools, businesses and private citizens to address the mission to "Enhance the viability of West Palm Beach as a modern model of healthy, environmentally progressive, ecologically sustainable and resilient urban living."

The Office of Sustainability was created in the Public Utilities Department in 2008. In 2014, with Mayor Jeri Muoio's emphasis on the importance of Resiliency and Sustainability, the Sustainability Office moved into the Mayor's Office, providing increased access and involvement in City activities and initiatives.
