ORGANIZATION: Our House of Portland

Our House Logo

Our House provides healthcare, housing, social services, and other vital services to those in need living with HIV. Our House has been part of the Portland community since 1988. Our services have expanded but our commitment to people living with HIV has remained the same. HIV is a complex and challenging disease that can often be overwhelming.

We operate a Residential Care Facility for 14 residents living with HIV/AIDS. We offer our residents three meals a day, seven days a week as nutrition is crucial to our health and well being.

Is preparing a hearty meal for a dinner party of friends and neighbors your idea of fun? Do you have a group of friends that enjoy cooking together? If so, Our House of Portland has an opportunity for you! We are looking for Dinner Cooks to join our team and community. We currently haveweekly and monthly openings available depending on your schedule.

We are looking for a weekly Friday dinner cook!
Monthly openings are the 1st Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, the 2nd Sundays and
the 3rd Wednesdays.

The Senior Manager of Culinary Services plans menus for resident nutrition. Dinner cooks arrive at 4:00 pm and have all the ingredients and recipes for dinner at the ready as well as 2-3 Kitchen Helpers to assist. Our House is equipped with s commercial kitchen and comes with all the gadgets and tools!

While the cook gets the meal prepared, the helpers assist with food prep, setting the table, serving residents and clean the dishes. Volunteers are welcome to eat dinner along with the residents, though not required. It is a great chance to build rapport and get to know our folks!

This is a wonderful opportunity for you and your friends to share your cooking talents, serve your community and an important organization and get to know new people! You typically have plenty of time to engage with our residents and our staff.
