Anticipated Results: Provide a positive image of the Seabee Museum to the public.
Anticipated Hours: about 4 hours per week. There are two shifts per day: 9:45 am to 1:00 pm, and 1:00 pm to 4:15 pm, Wednesday through Saturday. We are currently recruiting for our pending reopening, date to be determined.
Due to the public contact essential to this position, we are currently seeking volunteers who are not in high risk categories for COVID-19 although protective measures are being taken, and personal protective equipment will be supplied.
Position
The U.S. Navy Seabee Museum is looking for volunteers to help staff the Museum’s admissions desk. This is a public position, providing information about the Museum, Seabees and Civil Engineer Corps history, answering phones and general questions from the visiting public, and other work as assigned. Computer skills with Microsoft Office applications preferred. The schedule can be flexible and the museum is willing to work with the individual’s current work schedule. If you are interested in this type of position and enjoy meeting different type of people, then this position is for you.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist in counting the number of visitors to the museum.
- Answer the phone and forward calls to appropriate staff members.
- Greet guests, answer questions, and communicate museum policies.

- Ability to communicate effectively with the public and supervisor.
- Ability to follow instructions.

The mission of the U.S. Navy Seabee Museum is to select, collect, preserve and display historic material relating to the history of the Naval Construction Force, better known as the Seabees, and the U.S. Navy Civil Engineer Corps.
Description
The United States Navy Seabee Museum was established in 1947 and is the second oldest Navy museum in the Naval History and Heritages Command (NHHC) system. The Museum is under the Naval History and Heritage Command and supported by the CEC/Seabee Historical Foundation, which also supports the Seabee Heritage Center in Gulfport, Mississippi.
