ORGANIZATION: Muscular Dystrophy Association of Central and Southeastern Virginia
Please visit the new page to apply.
Hey there!
My name is Heather, and I am the Care Coordinator at the Muscular Dystrophy Association. I am reaching out to you because I need a little help with something. We host our MDA Summer Camp every year from June 8-14 for children with Muscular Dystrophy and we are in DESPERATE need of MALE counselors. We would love to work with you to see if we can get any counselors or even if you yourself are interested! Below is some information! Thank you so much, and I hope to speak with you soon!!
Camp volunteers are crucial to a successful and safe camping experience for MDA campers and play a critical role in MDA’s mission of transforming the lives of kids living with neuromuscular diseases. If accepted, many people will be counting on you to do your very best to care for MDA campers and uphold MDA’s policies and reputation while at camp.
MDA hosts camp sessions across the country for children between the ages of 8 and 17 that are diagnosed with a neuromuscular disease covered under MDA’s program of services. You can view the list of camp sessions that need volunteer support at https://www.mda.org/summer-camp/volunteer. Camper families and volunteers can select the week and camp location they are interested in attending. They can then apply for that specific camp session. Some camps are facilitated by MDA which means the summer camp session is directed by MDA staff members. MDA will recruit and select volunteers for their specific camps. MDA also sponsors camp sessions where all camp applications are handled by the camp facility staff, including volunteer processing and selection. Please note that all volunteers must be at least 18 years of age to apply.
We are excited to announce that the 2019 MDA Summer Camp volunteer applications are available online! We encourage you to complete your application early. Spots may fill quickly, and you will not be guaranteed a spot until you have completed the full application process and have been accepted. There will be established deadlines for all paperwork and the deadlines are non-negotiable.
Please follow the steps below to apply for 2019 MDA Summer Camp:
- The first step is to watch MDA’s HIPAA training.
