REMOTE OPPORTUNITY: We currently are looking for volunteers willing to work with us remotely, but we will also be hosting in person opportunities such as luncheons, workshops, and events so we are hoping to find volunteers who are local.
The Telephone Reassurance Program (TRP) is a volunteer run program based out of Riverdale Neighborhood House, a settlement house in the Bronx. The program is simple - we provide a detailed training on how to go about making the phone calls to our homebound neighbors, you'll receive a schedule of the individuals you will contact, and we provide any and all support that you may need as you go.
You'll make personalized weekday calls to homebound elderly, providing social contact while also listening for signals indicating the need for additional support. If you are a friendly, caring, and understanding individual that has one hour a week to make remote phone calls, then please reach out for more information.
We're also doing our best to increase awareness of our program, so if you know of any homebound seniors that may be interested in receiving phone calls (or of course making them!) we here at RNH and the TRP would greatly appreciate it!
