If you have the time and the heart to come into our care center and provide a compassionate presence to hospice patients and their families, please consider becoming a volunteer with our agency. In order to become a volunteer you must:

  • Complete an online application (www.chhh.org)
  • Be interviewed by our Volunteer Coordinator
  • Pass a background check
  • Complete the online volunteer training (10.25 hours)
  • Have a current driver's license, and proof of auto insurance
  • All volunteers in the Care Center must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in compliance with the state's vaccine mandate

Mission Statement

The mission of Community Hospice is to help the dying person and his/her family focus on quality of living and meet the transition from life to death. Hospice is committed to the provision of services and education to ensure comfort, dignity, and choice for the dying person and the grieving family.

Description

The Hospice Program provides symptom management and support to patients and families facing a terminal illness. This care is provided through an interdisciplinary team. This team consists of the family physician, Hospice nurses, social workers, pastoral support, and volunteers. Nursing services. The services are often provided in the patient's home. If there is a need for respite care or acute symptom management, a 12-bed inpatient Hospice facility is available. The Hospice Care Center was built with the strong support and generous dontations of the community. The Hospice Program serves patients who have been diagnosed as entering the last six months of an incurable disease. This program provides support to the family through this process and up to one year following the death of the loved one.
