The Family Thrift Store Attendant will support personnel by assisting customers in donating, locating and/or selecting store items; sorting, stocking and arranging store items in a neat and orderly manner; monitoring the store displays and performing various cleaning activities to ensure the store is properly maintained.

Proceeds from The Salvation Army Family Thrift Store support the programs (such as Turning Point) offered here in the Roanoke Valley. By volunteering with the Family Thrift store you will support families throughout the Roanoke Valley by it enabling The Salvation Army to help adults and children begin a new life, free from intimate partner and family violence.

Description

The Salvation Army strives to meet the needs of individuals and families in crisis. Services include emergency material (food, clothing, etc.) Christmas assistance, Family services Energy Funds. Nursing home and hospital visitation, food pantry, Canteen Ministry - ministry to local housing projects. Programs include senior citizen club, Domestic shelter for women and children, Young Adult Drop in Center, as well as spiritual programs such as Bible Studies and Sunday worship services. Fundraising activities include general public appeals, special events and Christmas kettles. The Salvation Army is often among the first on the scene when disaster strikes. Officers are trained to meet all kinds of emergencies by providing food, shelter, clothing and spiritual comfort. Disaster canteens have become familiar sights to firemen, policemen and victims alike.
