ORGANIZATION: CHRYSALIS PROGRAM

Due to the Covid 19 Pandemic our Chrysalis family have struggled to cope with loss, grief, loneliness, depression and more. We would like to begin group counseling sessions 2nd and 4th Tuesdays at 4pm. We would like to build out a myriad of topics to offer this service Spring 2022.

A group counselor volunteer will be either a licensed social worker, therapist, counselor or a student studying to become any of the aforementioned. There will be small groups of students or parents who will attend groups once a week in 6 week sessions. Counseling group should cover topics like:

  • Coping with trauma and loss
  • Managing Emotions and Family
  • Anger management
  • Healthy communication
  • Adolescence and body changes
  • Body Awareness
  • Conflict Resolution
Must have experience with working in therapy settings with girls of African descent & can share proof of demonstrated Allyship. Specifically looking for women who identify as a person of African descent & has experience with girls of African descent

Utilizing the resources of volunteers and active parents we create a community of learning, transformation and growth.

  • Orientation or Training
  • We will need a commitment of 3 hours per week in preparation for biweekly/monthly sessions (pending the need). 1 hour per group counseling session. 1 hour of preparation and 1 hour recap.
