Join Mason Conservation District and Pacific Shellfish Institute at Little Skookum Shellfish Farms with 3rd grade as we explore the beach, dig and survey beach organisms and learn !
We need volunteers on April 19th, May 2nd and May 3rd to assist and help run activity stations which include:
Bioblitz Dig & Survey on the beach
Identification Table & Science Drawings
Plankton & Water Quality Discovery
Volunteers would lead, run and assist groups of students in surveying and identifying beach organisms and work with students to answer questions and provide guidance and assistance.
Volunteers with knowledge in biology, sea life, shellfish and identification would be an excellent asset to these trips but beginning volunteers interested in learning are needed as well, as information will be provided. We are accepting volunteers with any range of knowledge base for a variety of activities and stations.
Volunteers would be expected to take and lead groups of students, answer questions, keep student attention, be patient and kind and have fun !
Volunteers must be willing to provide information for a background check by the school.

Mission Statement
"PROMOTING THE SUSTAINABLE USE, CONSERVATION & RESTORATION OF NATURAL RESOURCES IN OUR COMMUNITY"
Description
A Resource for Landowners:
Mason Conservation District has been working collaboratively since 1956 to help landowners in Mason County responsibly and efficiently manage their land and associated natural resources. As a non-regulatory agency, Mason Conservation District provides service solely at the request of the property owner. District staff will assess the landowner’s desired result and provide technical assistance and in some cases, financial assistance to achieve that goal. We provide confidential counsel to landowners without risk of regulation. Many of the Best Management Practices recommended by District staff improve environmental health while providing a sense of security and legal compliance.
A Resource for all Mason County Residents:
The District provides technical assistance and other available resources for the sustainable use, conservation or restoration of natural resources in Mason County. Regardless of the size or scope, Mason CD looks forward to providing you with the knowledge and confidence needed to undertake your project.
