Join Jumpstart during our LIteracy Fair, where we will be reading with children, engaging in literacy rich activities such as story creations and bookmark decorating. Please email Jephte Acosta at jephte.acosta@jstart.org for more information. We ask that volunteers sign up no later than 3/21/19.

Jumpstart is a national early education organization working toward the day every child in America enters kindergarten prepared to succeed. We provide language, literacy, and social-emotional programming for preschool children from under-resourced communities and promote quality early learning for all children. Since 1993, we’ve trained more than 45,000 college students and community volunteers to transform the lives of over 100,000 preschool children nationwide.

Mission Statement

Jumpstart is working toward the day every child in America enters school prepared to succeed.

Description

Each year, one third of America's children arrive on their first day of school without the skills necessary to succeed at grade level. When children begin behind their peers, catching up, especially without additional assistance, is difficult and unlikely. By focusing on enriching the education of preschool students from disadvantaged communities, Jumpstart is making sure every child has a chance at success. Jumpstart is a national nonprofit dedicated to inspiring children to learn, adults to teach, families to get involved, and communities to progress together.
