In collaboration with Toledo Public Schools, Open Arms Community Center of Toledo is offering a mentoring program inside of local Elementary schools. We are kicking off this initiative at Chase Elementary School. We are seeking energetic and engaging individuals who have a heart for children and a desire to see them thrive. We currently have 22 children wait listed ranging from 2nd grade to 8th grade needing assistance in the following areas: confidence, academics, social skills and adaptability. We have time slots available both during school as well as after school. We are asking for at least an hour a week commitment.

Could that be YOU? If so, please sign up today to make an impact within your community!

About OPEN ARMS COMMUNITY CHURCH

Location:

2335 COLLINGWOOD BLVD, TOLEDO, OH 43620, US

Mission Statement

A 501(c)(3) was organized to eliminate social tension associated with teen violence, inappropriate social skills, unemployment, an indifference to the community and to develop an inclusive relationship with seniors. Open Arms origins were born out of a sense of outrage as to why teens were behaving so irresponsibility. We at OACC believe our host of programs are meaningful and bring about positive outcomes and will be a guide towards positive success. Our Motto is: Serve, Educate and Reform!

Description

The Open Arms (r) mentoring program is dedicated to helping youth build career plans and skills and prepare for school completion, post secondary training, and productive work, by providing structured and supportive relationships with trusted adult mentors. The Open Arms Community Center Youth Mentoring Program(r) serves youth ages 6-14, who are at risk of delinquency or have already had contact with the juvenile justice system. The Open Arms (r) youth mentoring program currently assist youth at the Old West End Academy, Arlington, McKinley, and Chase Elementary in the following service areas: social competency, academic achievement, career awareness, service learning and recreation development.

We are seeking to provide an individual mentor for each youth within our program! We need YOU!

There are also other areas of engagement within our community center: Create a positive impact in a youth’s life through our in-school and after-school mentoring program, help out in our community clothing closet by sorting and distributing donations, volunteer to serve in or collect donations for our food pantry or participate in special events aimed to serve individuals and families in need within our community.
