ORGANIZATION: Prevention of Blindness Society of Metropolitan Washington

We are seeking volunteers to assist on Saturday, March 23, 2019 from approx. 10 AM TO 5 PM for our semi-annual spring cleaning and moving event at our location in Kensington. We need 15-20 volunteers for this project.

Founded in 1936, the Prevention of Blindness Society of Metropolitan Washington (POB) is the largest local prevention of blindness agency in the United States, dedicated to the improvement and preservation of sight by providing services, education, advocacy and innovation.

POB runs three charity thrift stores ("Look Again Resale Shops")that we use to raise money for our organization. Two are located in Kensington, Maryland.

This volunteer position will:

  • Move furniture, boxes, and other donations

  • Organize the items into various storage containers/units

This will be mostly outside and will occur rain or shine.

We remain committed to comprehensive vision health, ethical service within the community, deep respect for individuals and families in all circumstances, innovation in service delivery, and serving as a facilitator among our medical and social service peers.

Our organization serves the District of Columbia, Northern Virginia, and Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties of Maryland.
