On Friday, May 3rd, 2019 we hold our annual ¡Fiesta! Event in Woodside, which will bring together members of the Bay Area community for a night of inspiration and action. The evening will feature light fare, latin-inspired drinks, live music and over 250 area supporters.
We are looking for enthusiastic and capable volunteers to assist with check-in, our silent auction, and facilitating donations.
What to wear: Casual dress or shirt and pants and comfortable shoes. The weather can turn chilly and the event will be held outdoors, so please consider bringing a light sweater or wearing tights (we will have a heated tent if the weather is too cold this year so no need to bring anything too heavy).
What to bring: A fully charged iphone or ipad to process donations, if you have one. If you don't have an iphone or ipad, prefer not to use yours, or have an iphone 7 or above and don't have a traditional headphone jack, please let me know!
Other info: We will have a final volunteer meeting at 5:30pm, where pizza will be served. There will also be times during the evening for volunteers to take a break and enjoy a snack.

Description
Our partner artisans represent one of the world’s most marginalized populations - rural indigenous women. Mercado Global provides donor-funded business education and leadership programs to help women become successful business owners. We then connect them with large-scale sales opportunities so they can turn these skills into income. With this income, artisans provide nutritious food to their families and invest in their children's education - and the community breaks the cycle of poverty.
Traditional development efforts address the effects, not the causes, of cyclical poverty. Mercado Global is unique in its focus on change from the ground up: we provide education, tools, and access to international markets so that women can build their own businesses and invest in their own communities.
Our partner artisans have suffered discrimination, violence, and extreme poverty. Through an innovative dual approach that combines business partnerships with educational programs, Mercado Global helps these women connect to international sales opportunities on an unprecedented scale.
From one of the most marginalized populations in the world, our partner artisans are rising to become leaders in their communities and a source of change in global sourcing practices.
