Mission Statement

The Silver Reef Foundation, Inc.'s mission is to promote the development, operation, and availability to the public of the Silver Reef Museum as well as promoting the preservation and restoration of historical monuments, buildings, artifacts, and sites located in Silver Reef.

Description

Silver Reef was a mining boom town in the late 1800's with the discovery of silver in sandstone - a geological rarity. The area is now a ghost town located in a stunning geological setting. The Wells Fargo Express Stop Building, built in 1877, still stands and is registered on the National and Utah State Registers of Historic Buildings. It houses the museum and gift shop. There are several walking trails and ruins to visit around the museum. On the fourth Saturday of the month, there are Wild West reenactment shootouts and special lectures to further aid in making history come alive.
