Youth Leadership Program with Iraq: Call for Host Families

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: International Focus, Inc.

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.
  • 1 person is interested

The objective of the program is to promote mutual understanding between people of the USA and Iraq by promoting interaction with peers and families, service learning activities at universities and other facilities, and the creation of a service project to implement upon returning to Iraq. They will also participate in cultural outings, social gatherings and recreational activities. Thus, we hope to inspire and create a new generation of globally-minded leaders.

We are in need of families to host our guests (1-2 / household). Host families would be expected to provide breakfast and dinner daily, a place to sleep and weekday transportation to and from a designated location, probably at Whole Foods on Wade Avenue, Raleigh and Cary Towne Center in Cary. Host families are free to entertain their guests as they please, for the weekends during their visit. Host families and host siblings are invited to participate in all the activities.

All the participants will be carefully selected and screened by the US Embassy in Iraq.

If you or anyone you know, would be interested in participating, please contact: Mrs. Maria Adoskina, Program Director, madoskina@internationalfocus.org. Or contact Sam Lasris: samlasris@hotmail.com. Or call our office: 919 782 0552

Mission Statement

International Focus is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization with the mission to promote mutual understanding between North Carolina’s Triangle Region and the international community through education, economic and cultural exchange, arts, and the celebration of achievements.

Description

International Focus supports multiculturalism and international exchange through the International Visitors' Leadership Programs, the Community Connections Programs, and the Open World Programs. International Focus also promotes diversity via its newsletters, collaborations, workshops, resources, and its flagship event, the International Festival of Raleigh, considered to be a key component of the Triangle’s cultural and artistic offerings. The event showcases music, dance, cuisine, art, and cultural education from 55 diverse cultures, and welcomes 30,000 visitors annually.

We continue to welcome new ethnic communities to our network as the Triangle’s population expands; and we are honored to be the area’s pivotal connector for cross-cultural understanding and respect.
