CleanStart Team Leaders invest in the city's homeless men and women who are participating in the voluntary program called Project CleanStart, where they engage in city-ordered tasks around the city (such as street and park clean-up, landscaping, etc.), in order to learn job skills and increase their chances of obtaining employment. The homeless participants are compensated via gift card; the Team Leaders' job is to ensure all participants are meeting the requirements of the program. Team Leaders accompany a small group (usually five or six) of homeless men and women (all vetted) during their weekly work shifts - four hours a day, two days a week. Team Leaders impart work ethics and coaching during their time with participants. Team Leaders will receive training for this role.

Our Objectives Forma collaborative partnership of Christian organizations serving urban Danbury's at-risk communities Mobilize funds, facilities and volunteers for the partnership Empower partners to connect holistically with the populations they serve Create practical initiatives in the name and Spirit of Jesus Christ to transform lives and break the cycle of poverty and homelessness

Description

Our History

Jericho Partnership grew out of a 1999 project when several hundred volunteers from urban and suburban Danbury, Conn., congregations began renovating a derelict, burned-out 1800s downtown factory. The result is Jericho House, the home of Cambodian New Life Evangelical Church and several independent Christ-centered ministires for at-risk adults.

As the five-year project progressed, a vision emerged for a Christian charitable organization that would mobilize Christ-centered word-and-deed ministries and congregations into a collaborative serving the city's at-risk communities. Jericho Partnership was formed, providng an ongoing demonstration of living uncompromisingly for the glory of God.

Since then Jericho has become a 501(c)3 cross-cultural organization providing financial, volunteer, facility and staff support to 10 autonomous ministries in Danbury, and collaborates with more than 20 urban and suburban congregations for year-round inner-city ministries and projects.
