People who enjoy reading aloud are needed to read to hospice patients in homes and facilities. Patients may no longer be able to read or hold a book but still enjoy stories or poetry. Some derive help and support from the reading of familiar passages from scriptures or spiritual books. Others may simply find the rhythmic sound of reading comforting in the same way they did as children. Your voice, your willingness and an hour or so can bring enjoyment and comfort to hospice patients they wouldn't have otherwise. A clear, easily-understood speaking voice is needed.
