This AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) service opportunity is a 365day VOLUNTEER position with a monthly living allowance averaging $1,026 per month before taxes. AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) is a national
service program designed to alleviate poverty. AmeriCorps VISTA members serve full time for one-year terms.

Term: 04/15/2019 - 04/14/2020

The Women’s Business Center of Utah is laying groundwork for a strong outreach program to expand the accessibility of effective entrepreneurial education and support for minority women business owners throughout Utah. As women improve their businesses they are able to raise their families out of poverty. The WBCUtah Community Outreach VISTA will strengthen partnerships with ethnic and community-based organizations to benefit women business owners by increasing collaborative programs and events. Additionally, they will build a new volunteer mentor program providing match-making of minority women with experienced business owner mentors. The Community Outreach VISTA will finalize the WBCUtah’s community outreach program model to be implemented statewide by delivering standard operating procedures, best practices and job description for a WBCUtah outreach coordinator position.

Member Duties/Job Description: Foster existing and build community partnership and build sustainable collaboration through planning and executing programs and events; Launch new Volunteer Mentor program by creating an application and vetting process, match-making and follow up; Provide a sustainable documented outreach program ready for a WBCUtah outreach coordinator to take over including Standard Operating Procedures, best practices and written job description.

Program Benefits:
Living Allowance ($12,000 per year, pre-taxes), At the end of year of service, the VISTA can choose an Education Award ($6,095) or End of Service Cash Stipend ($1,800), Health Coverage*, Relocation Allowance, Monthly cell phone stipend, Travel reimbursement, Childcare assistance if eligible

Requirements:

College graduate

General office and computer skills, knowledge of Google Suite

Dedicated to national and community service

Demonstrate a love for relationship building and public speaking

Take initiative in meeting goals and seeking professional growth

Excellent organizational, interpersonal and detail-oriented skills.
