Mission Statement

What We Do: The mission of Girls on the Run of the Bay Area is to inspire girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. We envision a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams! Who We Are: We administer non-competitive, after-school running programs in San Francisco, Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, and San Mateo Counties. Our 8-week program combines training for a 5K running event with a community service project and uplifting workouts that encourage emotional, social, and physical development. Over the course of the program, girls will develop and improve competence, feel confidence in who they are, develop strength of character, respond to others and oneself with care, create positive connections with peers and adults, and make a meaningful contribution to community and society. Founded in 2002 Girls on the Run San Francisco is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Girls on the Run San Francisco is a chapter of Girls on the Run International, which was founded in 1996 and is based in Charlotte, NC.
