Hosparus Health of Barren River needs volunteers in Allen, Barren, Butler, Edmonson, Hart, Logan, Metcalfe, Monroe, Simpson and Warren counties and will offer a free orientation and training session from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. CST on Friday, June 21st (lunch provided), at its Glasgow office, 1320 North Race St. Individual trainings can be scheduled based on need.

Hosparus Health provides hospice and palliative care to seriously ill patients and their families. Volunteers perform a variety of duties, which may include patient/family support, administrative support, help with community events and fundraising. Hosparus Health volunteers must be in good health, have available transportation and complete an application and full day of training. The organization needs volunteers of all ages and interests.

And as a fully accredited nonprofit organization, our services are available to any patient who needs us, regardless of their ability to pay.

  • Flexible volunteer schedule: ask for commitment of 24 hours of volunteering per year but not required
  • 2 Step TB Skin test is required for patient and family support volunteers (provided by Hosparus Health free of charge); flu shot is required for all volunteers November 1 through March 30.
