** IN ORDER TO REGISTER AS A VOLUNTEER FOR THIS EVENT YOU MUST EMAIL MARY.OWENS@RALEIGHNC.GOV AND SHE WILL SEND YOU THE LINK.**

Event Description:
Come join Parks Division staff as we seed and straw along the Crabtree Creek trail near Lockwood Park.

Volunteer Impact:
Seeding and strawing not only helps make our trails look nice, it also help with erosion.

Volunteer Duties:
Volunteers will be helping to spread the grass seeds along the trail. The seed will be spread with a hand seeder and the straw will be spread by hand.

Work Environment:
We will be outside along the trail, but there is the possibility for uneven ground. This project will involve quit a bit of walking - about three miles. There is no restroom on site, but it could be a walk/drive to one. We will also be working with and in contact with hay. If you are allergic to hay, then we do not recommend this project.

Special Details:
We will supply tools, gloves, snacks, water, dust masks, sunscreen, bug spray and a first aid kit. Volunteers should wear long sleeves and long pants, as well as dress for the weather. Closed-toe shoes such as sneakers or hiking/work boots is a must. This is not a good project for someone allergic to hay.

Volunteer Requirements:
Volunteers must be at least 16 to participate. All volunteers will need to fill out a release form. Any volunteer under 18, will need to have a parent or guardian sign this form as well.

Registration as a volunteer is first come, first served. If interested in registering a group, please email mary.owens@raleighnc.gov . We require a list of names and their email addresses to hold spots for groups.

Per department policy this event cannot count towards court-appointed or suggested community service hours.
