1401 Fish Hatchery Rd, Pisgah Forest, NC 28768, US

Mission Statement

To conserve North Carolina's wildlife resources and their habitats and provide programs and opportunities that allow hunters, anglers, boaters, and other outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy wildlife-associated recreation.

Description

The Pisgah Center for Wildlife Education was opened in 1998. The Center's theme is mountain habitats, dedicated to exploring North Carolina's wildlife. A part of the N. C. Wildlife Resources Commission, the Pisgah Center is located in the Pisgah National Forest next to the state's largest trout hatchery- the Bobby N. Setzer State Fish Hatchery. The Center offers a site visit which starts with a walk around the hatchery raceways where visitors can feed the fish, then meanders over the creek thru the Mt. Cove habitat and ends up in the indoor exhibit where visitors can see first hand fish, snakes, salamanders, turtles etc. found in the Mt. Cove forest. The Pisgah Center also offers programs for the public on fly fishing or birding to name a few or schools and groups can schedule a program topic for a fieldtrip experience.
