This program would not be feasible without the contributions of trained volunteers! There are many ways volunteers can support Mary T such as:
Patient Care Volunteers:
Hospice Volunteers provide a comforting presence, companionship and respite for patients and family caregivers under the direction of professional staff. Volunteers may serve in Patient Care through companionship to both the patient and caregiver. Activities may include running errands, doing light household chores, staying with patient while the caregiver is away and watching movies, reading, listening to music etc.
A hospice volunteer would have self-awareness and ability to grow and develop. Volunteers respect the religious experience of others and is open to talking about them about personal faith. A hospice volunteer is someone who can remain calm in crisis.
Bereavement Support Volunteers:
Volunteers provide a listening and support while client processes his/her grief. Encourages participation in support groups, social activities provided by hospice, encourages other support services through social service agencies. May encourage options and choices for reintegration of his/her life.
Office Assistance:
Volunteers would assist with mailings, typing assignments, collating materials/copying, library assistance, answering telephone, and other supportive services.
