We need you: Volunteers at OFS help build a brighter future for those in our community who need help most. Be a part of Oakland Family Services' mission... the time you give can change people's lives!
Goals of this position: Transportation is KEY to a client's success while enrolled in one of our programs here at OFS. For clients who cannot drive themselves or have no access to transportation , our volunteer drivers donate their time to give children, individuals and families a much needed lift.
Your Impact: Even the innovative, best in class services we offer at OFS can’t work if a client can't get to us. Volunteer as a driver and become a tremendous asset to your community.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Drive agency vehicle to transport clients as directed by program staff.
- Ensure safety laws are followed and every passenger is properly restrained, from infants to adults.
- Provide light and friendly conversation with clients during ride.
- Reports any vehicle deficiencies to facilities staff.
Time Requirements: At least 4 hours per month with a 6 month commitment
Location: Various locations throughout Oakland County
Skills and Qualifications:
- A good driving record
- A current, valid driver’s license
- Proof of adequate automobile insurance
- Completion of required background checks, reference checks and trainings
- Regular access to a computer, laptop, tablet computer
- Schedule availability, typically Monday-Saturday
