Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assists citizens as it relates to domestic violence in understanding and filling out legal documents required for temporary protective orders
- Assists with record-keeping and statistical data pertaining to the services provided
- Accompanies victims to court hearings
- Qualifications:
- Background Check/Fingerprint Check
- Compassion & sensitivity
- Good listening & verbal/non-verbal communication skills
- Ability to be calm, professional & non-judgmental
- Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals
- Dependability
- Organization
- Successful completion of required training program
- Orientation and attendance at all intern/volunteer training sessions related to issue
- Adhere to a regular schedule as set forth by intern and supervisor
- Shifts are from 8am-4pm Monday through Friday at the Cobb County Courthouse. Interns must commit to at least 2 days per week.
Training:
- Approximately 20 hours of initial training to include: domestic violence, sexual assault, active listening, crisis intervention skills, policies & procedures
- Additional orientation and training sessions as it pertains to specific roles
- Approximately 40 hours of online Victim’s Assistance Training

Description
We provide the only domestic violence shelter in Cobb County.
We are the only sexual assault program serving Cobb, Cherokee and Paulding Counties.
Other services include individual and group counseling, assistance in obtaining Temporary Protective Orders, transitional housing, outreach advocacy and community education.
All of our services are provided to victims at no cost.
