The Next IT Girl: Atlanta Chapter Lead
The Next IT Girl is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that educates, mentors, and advances underrepresented young women of color ages 8-22 who are interested in pursuing a technology -related career. We expose these young women to all aspects of computer science and information technology. By supporting broader career options and encouraging all technical interests we provide the support network they need to pursue and successfully excel in the technology industry. Through hands-on workshops, community support, and mentorship we are creating resources that will increase the representation and close the gender and race gap in technology.
A TNIG chapter leader provides a foundation in a local community through our 3 key areas; Educating, Mentoring, and Advancing. Chapters are made up individuals devoted to giving back at the community level. Chapters are semi-autonomous all working independently, but still in conjunction with each other in support of the TNIG mission. Chapters facilitate beneficial events that engage their local community as a whole. Chapters work closely with local businesses, organizations, and companies to help ensure continued growth and sustainability of TNIG. Each chapter is different, made up and led by enthusiastic individuals, but supported by the resources and leadership of TNIG core leaders. This ensures that each chapter aligns with TNIG mission.
The Chapter Leader is essential to the success of each chapter. They provide structure and direction in the planning and execution of internal and external events and encourage engagement with community and tech leaders in the chapter cities.
