Youth Improvement Services is a startup nonprofit, with 501 (c) (3) status, that will serve at-risk youth in Mississippi, through a structured transitional living program. Our main goal is to provide opportunities and hope for homeless young adults, so they can develop the skills, resources and resilience needed for an independent life. Our supervised apartments will provide a safe living space for all program participants, who will be assigned to a mentor and receive life skills training, job search assistance and referrals to career development programs. This work is important because equipping youth with the means to be productive can save lives.

We expect to grow at a moderate pace over the next year, as we serve youth mainly in the Jackson, Mississippi metropolitan area. To make this happen, we need an inspired partner with the ability to leverage existing relationships in the community and to develop new partnerships leading to donations, gifts and grants through collaboration and sponsorships with other organizations. This volunteer opportunity has the potential to become a paid position, as the organization grows within the first 3 months, depending on available funding.
